Hi, I’m Trisha Raichura

I am a student in Cornell’s Class of 2028, pursuing a major in Computer Science and hoping to pursure a minor in Business. I have been studying computer science since my sophomore year in high school, and am comfortable coding in Java, Python, HTML and CSS. When I'm not in classes, I am usually doing external research or focusing on my music. Currently, I am in the Computer Science Association for Undergraduates at Cornell and hope to develop coding skills and etiquette during my freshman year! When I am free, I also enjoy karaoke, ice skating and exploring Ithaca!

Avogadro’s Chemistry Contest

University of Waterloo’s Avogadro Chemistry Contest is a chemistry competition for Grade 11 that allows students to showcase their knowledge in the first year of their Advanced Chemistry course. I achieved a distinction in this challenge

Johns Hopkins

I received the High Honours award from Johns Hopkins University for my excellent performance in the SCAT test.

UKMT-intermediate

The UKMT Intermediate Challenge, following on from Junior, stretches students to engage in more problem-solving. I achieved a Gold award.

UKMT-Senior

The UKMT Intermediate Challenge stimulates problems for both beginners and experienced problem-solvers and is the highest level of the challenges. I achieved a Gold award, placing as one of the top students in my year.

Dubai Math Super League Winners

The Dubai Math Super League (DMSL) is one of the few rare opportunities where the brightest mathematical minds from all over Dubai compete against each other, all representing their school and hoping to win. My team and I won this competition pre-covid.

Community Works

Dubai center for special needs

I spend some time volunteering and helping out with classes at Dubai Centre for Special Needs. Choosing to do so has been an excellent decision enhancing my understanding of how children with severe physical and learning disabilities carry out daily activities. This was another way I could give back to the community as working with these children is an opportunity I will always take. DCSN has been a great insight into the lives of special needs children in my community which inspires me everyday.

KCS foundation

I am collaborating with the KCS Foundation to train selected volunteers who will liaise with government schools, identify children with special needs, and guide them through my learning modules. KCS Foundation has reached out to various schools in Rural Bihar and offered the services of my platform to serve the needs of 500+ special children. We have also set up computer labs and internet facilities in these schools to enable online learning.Due to my effort, I have won the award for Outstanding Community Service presented on World Literacy Day by KCS foundation in collaboration with the Consulate General of India.

EXI-EDUCATION

EXI-Education is a comprehensive special needs education website dedicated to providing educational modules and resources for individuals, families, and professionals interested in understanding and supporting people of determination. This inclusive platform aims to bridge knowledge gaps, promote empathy, and foster an inclusive society that celebrates the unique abilities and potential of every individual. The selected volunteers through my work with KCS foundation will work with government schools, identify the children with special needs, and guide them through the learning modules offered through Exi-education. Together, we have launched a project to bring Exi- education to the public schools in rural areas that do not have special educators.

Research Projects

Computational Approaches to detect and segment biofilm regions from microscopy images probed by fluorescence in Situ Hybridization

This project uses machine learning approaches to identify patterns in images and make conclusions. These images are collected through microscopy to obtain insights into biofilm structures.

Extension of Quasar baseline

Wrote a research paper and used machine learning to plot the extension of the quasar (supermassive blackhole) baselines using different telescopic filters under Dr.Chris Suberlak, University of Washington. Extended quasar baselines with the aim of improving the accuracy of the fit of the Damped Random Walk (DRW) model, which tends to be biased unless the light curve length is greater than 10 times the DRW characteristic timescale.

Doppler Effect in Expanding Cosmology

I completed a research project under my Ph.D. mentor Dr.Rifath Khan, University of Cambridge, on how we can use the Doppler effect and calculate it as a function of the relative velocity of a source and observer and how we could compute the relative velocity of the galaxies with respect to Earth using Hubble’s law and idea of the expanding universe.

Unlocking the Microbial Mysteries in Children with Special Needs

I have worked with professors at the University of Depaul and UChicago. We have developed bioinformatics modules to learn more about the gut microbiome by analyzing microbial DNA sequence data using publicly available bioinformatics tools. Through this module, we hope to understand the concept of microbiomes and their importance by comparing the microbial composition of a healthy gut to those with special needs. This module will also introduce a basic overview of DNA, genes, and the process of sequencing. Designing a module like this will be a great way of introducing complex concepts into classrooms.

Georgia Tech Course

Completed an online mathematics course at Georgia Institute Of Technology on Linear Algebra III. I learned about Determinants, Eigenvectors, Eigenvalues, and how to apply them to complex problems.

VCATI Internship

I interned at a Vision Concept Aviation Training Institute (VCATI) where learned the basics of aeronautics and aircraft parts (specifically the wing and engine), navigation during flight, emergency protocol, temperature and pressure control, and workshop tool usage (to do with building parts of an engine and electronic controls).

Colombia Summer Program

Student at Columbia’s summer school in the summer of 2022. Learned theories behind the origin of the universe, cosmology, and black hole formation and detection with 20 selected students and a specialized professor.

Chamber Choir

I have been part of both the Junior Chamber Choir (Year 7-10) as well as Senior Chamber Choir (Year 11-13) throughout my years at Dubai College. This choir is an invite-only group; we have taken part in various prestigious competitions such as ChoirFest and performed at all annual school concerts including the Senior Showcase.

Young Musicians of the Gulf

I participated in the prestigious Young Musicians of the Gulf with the Senior Chamber Choir when it was held at Dubai College in January 2023.

YouTube Channel

I recently embarked on a journey and started an account with the intention to pursue individual music. I gained 60,000 views on the first song and 500+ subscribers within the first 7 days.

Lamda Drama

I achieved a distinction in Grade 8 (Gold level)Solo Acting Performance. LAMDA is an examination that tests both performance skills as well as drama theory.
